Matt Ryan Tobin Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Movie Poster Release By Skuzzles

Skuzzles last two releases have been video game related, but they're back to tackling their favorite films. Around this time last year, Skuzzles released Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey by Matt Ryan Tobin. Now, they're back with Matt to release a limited edition screen print for the one that started it all--Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. This limited edition screen print is a companion piece to Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. Being Matt's favorite films, he wanted to create Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure / Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey prints for the ultimate Bill and Ted fans, with a style that allows both prints to be hung as a set, or alone. Growing up, these films were among their favorites. Skuzzles couldn't be happier with how Matt was able to pack so much into these prints. They barely made it out of the box before they had them framed and hung side-by-side. Skuzzles hope all the Bill and Ted fans out there love these as much as we do!

Here's some feedback from Matt Ryan Tobin regarding his Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure poster:

"The 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' poster has finally been revealed! Excellent! Much like my first poster in this set (Bogus Journey), this took me quite some time. It was always the plan to make two posters that could stand on their own but also work in a set.

I deliberately wanted these posters to feel "electric" in my lines, and over all style of rendering. So I had to revisit a style of drawing I hadn't visited in a over almost 2 years (2 Years....whoa...) but also make it feel lighter, friendlier and more playful. I love this film with my whole heart. I really have these films to thank for inspiring a young kid to create.

I hope fans of these movies can see the love behind these posters, as I made them for the true B&T fans, like myself.

Much thanks to Skuzzles for allowing me to spend as much time as I did with Bill S. Preston and Ted Theodore Logan.Wyld Stallyns Rules!"

Mike Saputo Golden Axe Sega Video Game Poster

As kids, the guys from Skuzzles spent a good portion of their time in a video store or an arcade. A lot of arcade games have faded from memory over the years, but Golden Axe (SEGA) has stood the test of time. For this limited edition screen print video game poster, Skuzzles teamed up with artist Mike Saputo, who also grew up losing an endless amount of lives in Golden Axe. This is their first time using gold foil, and they couldn't be happier with the end result. In an attempt to try to capture the awesomeness of the gold foil variant, here is a gif to demonstrate its glory.

Golden Axe - Regular Edition - $45 USD
Officially licensed screen print video game poster - SEGA
Limited edition of 175
Size 18" x 24"
9 Colors printed on French Durotone Butcher Off-white

Golden Axe - Gold Foil Variant Edition - $65 USD
Officially licensed screen print video game poster - SEGA
Limited edition of 100
Size 18" x 24"

Note: All prints are hand made limited edition screen prints, and individually numbered.

Here's a little bit from artist Mike Saputo on his Golden Axe artwork.

“1989. I believe I was a senior in high school and we spent a lot of time at the local 7-11, and for a while in one particular spot of said 7-11 - the spot where the one video game console sat by the windows. Usually it was Double Dragon like always. Until one day some new fangled game was sitting there in place of DD...whatever it was this game better be good to replace the legend that was Double Dragon. I could tell by that marquee that we might have a new obsession on our hands, and once those coins pumped in that slot and those 3 players rotated on that skeletons hand it was confirmed. Gilius Thunderhead was his name, and he and his golden battle axe were my go-to. Always.”

Matt Ryan Tobin Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Poster Skuzzles Release

It's been awhile since Skuzzles last movie poster release, but it was worth the wait. For this limited edition screen print movie poster, they teamed up with an amazing Canadian artist, Matt Ryan Tobin. Fortunately, they were able to acquire the license to Matt's favorite flick of all time... Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

Skuzzles couldn't be happier with how Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey came out. Matt worked on the artwork for this limited edition screen print for roughly an entire year. They were lucky enough to have likeness for majority of the actors (Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, George Carlin and the whole shebang), so Matt took full advantage of this. He was able to capture the story of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey by taking multiple elements from the film and incorporating them into the poster.

Here's some design talk from Matt Ryan Tobin regarding his Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey poster:

This is my favorite film of all time. This is the longest I have ever spent on single poster. About a year. I really have to thank my fellow Canadians SKUZZLES for their endless patience as I tried to conquer this. So many times I actually almost jumped ship because I felt I couldn't do it justice and it was starting to drive me insane.

I was way too close to it.

After much sweat and anxiety and hair lost I decided to hit the "Fuck It" button and make the most ridiculous and out-there-jam-packed poster I could. Coming from a guy who tends to prefer and lean on more simplistic and conceptual approaches this was a big jump but one I'm happy I took. This is an outrageous film and it required an outrageous poster.
I started to see why the original one sheet was Bill, Ted and Death against a white background. It's impossible to tell this films outlandish, crazy, and most excellent story in a single image. I guess that's what I tried to do.
The thing is; I still think if you hadn't seen the film, perhaps a poster this outrageous just might make you want to.

Jeff Proctor Breakin Movie Poster Release From Skuzzles

Skuzzles is taking you back to the 80s with this cult classic. Skuzzles couldn't be more happy to release a limited edition screen print movie poster for cult classic break-dancing film, Breakin'.

Is there a child or teenager from the 80's who didn't hit up the linoleum kitchen floor to spin on their back?  You can guess who one of those kids was--Jeff Proctor. For this limited edition screen print movie poster, Skuzzles teamed up with Jeff Proctor. Almost 2 years back they originally asked Jeff if he would be interested in working on a cult horror poster. It turns out that although he has done a lot of horror related limited edition screen print movie posters in the past, he was more a fan of other genres.  Skuzzles asked him what his favorite cult film was and without hesitation he said Breakin'. They love Breakin' too, so they instantly acquired the license to make it official. They've been huge fans of Jeff Proctor, since his limited edition screen print movie poster for Lucio Fulci's film Zombi (which one of us owns).

Mirroring the dance battles from the films, in 1984, production studios were racing to the cinemas to release the "Break Dancing Movie" of the summer.  MGM's Breakin' (Breakdance: The Movie, Break Street '84) just beat Orion's Beat Street to the theaters by 4 days. Ozone, Turbo, Special K, Pop N' Taco, Poppin' Pete, Lollipop and yes even JCVD, in his one piece, could not resist breakin' to some fresh beats.

Chris Skinner Street Trash Movie Poster Release From Skuzzles

This will be Skuzzle's second limited edition screen print movie poster release that includes a free 1.5" soft enamel glow in the dark pin for the first 100 orders.

When starting Skuzzles, they had a list of 20 some odd films that they wanted to create a limited edition screen print movie poster for and Street Trash was one of them. Growing up in the days of video stores, they would spend hours gawking at VHS box art. One film with box art that always deserved a meticulous analysis was the original (North American) Street Trash release. Through the eyes of a young lad, it didn't matter what the film was about, the box art had a guy melting to pieces through a grimy looking toilet. The first time they watched Street Trash was by far not the last, it still holds up as one of their all time favorite cult horror comedies. Street Trash is a film that they hold in high regard and theycouldn't be happier with the colors, style and composition that Chris Skinner executed on this poster. The end result is an epic cornucopia of awesomeness that captures so many aspects of Street Trash. As limited edition screen print movie poster collectors, and huge fans of Street Trash, they are extremely happy to offer a Skuzzles Street Trash poster.

Street Trash by Chris Skinner - Regular Edition
Limited Edition of 100
10 Color screen print
18 x 24 Inches

Street Trash by Chris Skinner - Variant Edition
Limited Edition of 50
4 Color screen print on black paper
18 x 24 Inches

FREE $10 BONUS GIFT The first 100 Street Trash limited edition screen print movie posters sold comes with a free 1.5" Tenafly Viper pin. This is a 6 color soft enamel pin with a glow-in-the-dark blue. It comes with 2 back clutches. Designed by Chris Skinner. (disclaimer: Do not drink this pin...)

Anothony Petrie RoboCop Poster Release By Skuzzles

Skuzzles' first movie poster of 2016 is something they've been working on since last spring with the extremely talented and detailed artist Anthony Petrie. Skuzzles are thrilled to finally release Anthony Petrie's RoboCop. They wanted to include some iconic characters from the film, but ran into issues with likeness and the initial release was delayed. After several months, they were finally able to negotiate the use of likeness for Kurtwood Smith's character Clarence Boddicker, thanks to Kurtwood himself--he's also the first person to receive this print.

The attention to detail that was put into this RoboCop print is absolutely insane. Throughout, you'll find an array of one liners and references from RoboCop. Here's what Anthony Petrie had to say about his work on RoboCop:

"Robocop is one of my all-time favorite movies, and he’s the subject in a lot of Hero pop culture references. That’s why I wanted to approach Robocop in a more unconventional way, visually depicting him in a more vulnerable state than we’re used to seeing. Thematically, this concept explores the duality of man and machine by drawing a graphic connection between Murphy’s organic —and inorganic— elements, with a darker and more dystopian palette."

For this RoboCop print Skuzzles did something new that they're hoping to continue for future limited edition screen print movie poster releases. If you already didn't know, limited edition pins are becoming very popular. Over the past year they had several people ask if they would ever get into selling collectible pins. Skuzzle's is run purely as a passion business and each of the guys have full-time day jobs. Selling another product would be a lot of extra work that they're just not capable of taking on, so instead of selling pins we decided to GIVE AWAY FREE pins. The first free pin was created by Anthony Petrie and it's a 2" Delta City Police badge die-struck pin with an antique silver finish and butterfly clutch. They only have 100 limited edition pins, so the first 100 orders will receive them.

The free stuff doesn't stop at our RoboCop pin. They will also be including 4 original RoboCop art pieces by Anthony Petrie. They will be randomly inserted into tubes if you purchase a RoboCop movie poster within the first 3 days of the original sale.

This is also the first time they've created a screen print movie poster with a full metallic wash, and the results are stunning! Here are the details of the RoboCop poster:

RoboCop by Anthony Petrie
Limited edition of 150
6 color screen print featuring a full metallic wash
24 x 36 Inches
$50

On Sale Wednesday January 20th at 1:00PM EST at www.Skuzzles.com

Bonus: The first 100 orders will receive a free 2" limited edition RoboCop pin. Also, any orders within the first 3 days of sale will have a chance to win 1 of 4 original RoboCop art pieces by Anthony Petrie.

Free Friday Poster Giveaway Featuring KILLER KLOWNS and Jason Edmiston

Killer Klowns from Outer Space has been one of my favorite movies for years, I still remember renting it on VHS. Funny thing is I don't remember what made me pick it up to check out, but I'm glad I did. It is one of those B-Movie works of gold that either people loved or hated it. As silly as it was all the effects and weapons were hilarious and very well though out. With all the movie posters being made I really never thought anyone would do Killer Klowns. But Skuzzles made me do the happy dance when I saw they were releasing a fully licensed poster for the movie and had Jason Edmiston doing the art for it. This poster looks fantastic in person too.

I was really blown away when Skuzzles contacted me the other day and said hey you want to give one of these Klowns a new home. Of course I said YES since I love being able to give back to you my faithful readers.

So here it is folks Killer Klowns From Outer Space 25th Anniversary Poster that is 24" x 36" Inches. The giveaway will be for the blue regular edition of which only 165 were made.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about who your Favorite Klown is to have a chance at winning the print. Bloodsport (1998) movie poster by Randy Ortiz and Skuzzles

Last week Skuzzles released a poster illustrated by Canadian artist Ghoulish Gary for MGM's cult classic movie Teen Wolf. This week they're following up with another cult favorite from MGM's archive, Bloodsport (1988) illustrated by another very talented Canadian artist Randy Ortiz.

Details from Skuzzles on how the poster came about:

How this poster came to life is actually pretty cool. We were in the process of selecting movie titles for our license agreement with MGM and we were introduced to Randy Ortiz for the first time. Whenever we meet an artist, we ask the same question "What are some of your favorite films, that you would like to create a poster for". Without skipping a beat, Randy said BLOODSPORT, but little did he know it was an MGM property we were already looking to acquire.  Since watching Bloodsport as a young boy Randy has dreamed of training alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme for the Kumite. A single elimination full contact fighting tournment, held in a secret location, that only occurs every 5 years. Randy admits that his Kumite invite might never come, so the next best thing is creating an officially licensed silk screened poster for the film. It's nice to offer an artist a project that they're passionate about.

Here's a quote from Randy regarding the poster

"What you see is Dux's face right after Bolo throws salt in his eyes, and he ends up having that look of absolute clarity (right after his comical freak out). I thought this scene was a pivotal turning point in the fight. I remember as a kid losing my shit when I first saw this scene."

We wanted the poster to look like it came out of the same year that Bloodsport was released and we're really happy with Randy's final results.

Here is the spec and release information for our Bloodsport poster:

World Premier Exclusive Ghoulish Gary Pullin Teen Wolf Poster for Skuzzles

Teen Wolf (1985 MGM) by Ghoulish Gary Pullin

Skuzzles is happy to finally announce their first MGM print release--Teen Wolf (1985 - feat. Michael J Fox) by Ghoulish Gary. This is the first ever officially licensed Teen Wolf screen print to hit the movie print world and they're ecstatic over the work Ghoulish Gary has put into this project.

Last year while they were visiting Toronto's After Dark Film Festival to checkout Astron-6 and TROMA's Father's Day, they ran into Gary for the first time. Skuzzles introduced themselves, shared a beer and talked a little bit of potential business.  They asked Gary if he was interested in working on a commissioned piece for Skuzzles in the future and he was down. Gary mentioned that he wanted the timing and movie to be right, so they booked him far in advance and offered up MGM's cult classic film, Teen Wolf. Being an avid illustrator of werewolves and other monsters (not too many people you can say this about), Gary signed up to work on the print. They're extremely happy how Gary was able to capture this cult classic on paper and they think you will be too.

Below are the specs and release information for their first MGM print, Teen Wolf.

Skuzzles acquires rights to movie posters for several cult classic MGM films

Skuzzles are happy to announce the official news that Skuzzles has acquired rights to produce several officially licensed silk screened movie prints, based off some of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios' (MGM) cult classic films. This has been a work in progress since early 2012 and they can finally share the news with everyone.

Skuzzles is also extremely happy to announce that every artist involved is actively working on artwork. Each artist has a unique style and has been paired with an MGM film that will highlight their amazing artistic talents. Theyhave a feeling that you will be as excited about learning the names of the artists, as they are to present them.

If you happen to be in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the unveiling of each poster will be showcased exclusively in-store at Invisible Cinema two days before the prints go on sale. Invisible Cinema is an independent movie store and art gallery, located at 319 Lisgar St. Ottawa, ON.
