Shepard Fairey C’mon Everybody Poster Release Details

This new poster by Shepard Fairy is 18 x 24 inch screen print. Signed and numbered edition of 450.
Release date: January 3, 2013 at a random time between 10am and 12 noon (PST) at ObeyGiant.com

Lyrics:

Ah well, c’mon everybody and let’s get together tonight
I got some money in my jeans and I’m really gonna spend it right
Well I’ve been a-doin’ my homework all week long
And now the house is empty and the folks are gone
Ooo C’mon everybodyAh well my baby’s number one but I’m gonna dance with three or four
And the house’ll be a-shakin’ from my bare feet slappin’ on the floor
Well, when you hear that music you can’t sit still
If your brother won’t rock then your sister will
Ooo C’mon everybody

Well we’ll really have a party but we gotta put a guard outside
If my folks come a-home I’m afraid they’re gonna have my hide
They’ll be no more movies for a week or two
No more runnin’ round with the usual crew
Who cares C’mon everybody

C’mon everybody
C’mon everybody
I love the way the past is reinterpreted in art and music to create something new. You see it done very creatively in hip-hop with disco, soul, rock, and funk samples.  Through punk rock reinterpretations of older rock ‘n’ roll songs I discovered Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Vince Taylor, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Bobby Fuller Four, and early Who. The Sex Pistols with Sid Vicious on vocals covered two Eddie Cochran songs, Somethin” Else and C’mon Everybody which inspired this print. Sid’s leather jacket and lock necklace can be seen in the image. Sid’s version of C’mon Everybody is irreverent and raucous, but the original has a heap of rebellious swagger too. Check out the lyrics… innocent but defiant.

Flying Fortress Heavy Formation Print on sale today

No comments:

1xRUN welcome back European artist Flying Fortress for his first solo RUN as he has brought the hand-embellished Heavy Formation which features his signature Teddy Trooper. Flying Fortress first joined 1xRUN with partner in crime Nychos for two RUNs to support the Detroit Beautification Project featuring their collaborative mural under the Jukebox Cowboys moniker.

"I started to use this kind of trooper formation for my sticker project. On the stickers the formation makes you able to create an endless unbroken pattern when sticking them next each other. Even when I designed new stickers with new “themes” they still go together. So this print brings you a “classic” fortress trooper army.

The original first series of this artwork was a short hand printed silkscreen in an edition of 9 pcs, but they are all long gone. So this is the chance to get a classic Fortress Trooper print in a new colour way. Also with each one here is personally hand-embellished adding a little extra to each print." - Flying Fortress

Heavy Formation is a 18 x 24 Inches Hand-Embellished 3-Color Screen Print on 140lbs French Archival Fine Art Paper

2013 Happy New Year Poster Fans

1 comment:

Hope everyone is having a good New Years day and stayed out of trouble last night but still had some fun.

The past year was a great year in the poster, print and toy world with so much good creative work being released. In 2011 I had 1567 posts on the blog, this past year 2122 posts. That is a great indication how creative and strong the art community is right now.

I'm not going to bore you with yet another list of what someone thinks is the best of something. If you want to see some of my choices for posters click on the Poster Vs Poster tab at the top. These are posters I choose and had you vote on for your favorite. It will start again this weekend with 2 new posters being chosen. Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite's of this year or email me a list and I will post it here. One of the things I learned from Jermaine Rogers years ago is that art is subjective. Just because I dig something does not mean you will. With all the creative work everyone produces, there really is something for everyone and as you become exposed to new stuff hopefully your tastes will expand as well. You may not like something the first time you see it but always keep an open mind and appreciate the talent it took to create it.

Thank you again to all my loyal readers that take the time to stop by every day. Along with the help and support of the artists to bring you the latest news and great giveaways. And to everyone that has given their suggestions and input. I have a feeling 2013 is going to be another mind blowing creative year that is going to melt our eyes and create a sensory overload.
