Shepard Fairey Earth Crisis Poster Release

No comments:

Obey Giant will be releasing a new poster titled Earth Crisis in 3 colorways by Shepard Fairey. At first I was hoping it was for the reggae band Steel Pulse, but it's not.

Shepard talks about the idea behind the poster:
As you all know I’m concerned about the future of the planet. My political stance on protecting the planet is driven by my concern for the quality of life for future generations, not by any financial benefit for me. When you look at the true motives of those who deny climate change, they are transparent in their greed or their political benefit for those aligning themselves with certain corporate donors. The correlation between Carbon emissions and climate change is virtually unanimous in the scientific community. I’m not an alarmist, but I do think people need to understand reality… check out some of the info on this NASA site: http://climate.nasa.gov The government does not want to send citizens into panic and hysteria, so I imagine these stats err on the mild side. If you aren’t a bit concerned, what is it going to take… Florida, New Orleans, and NYC submerged?
Proceeds from this print will go to the NRDC to aid in their efforts to influence legislation to protect the environment. Thanks for caring.-Shepard
3 Colorways available red, black and cream. Each one is 18 x 24 inch screen print on cream Speckletone paper.  Signed and numbered edition of 200.

Top Gun GABZ Movie Poster Release World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

Hang on to your cup of coffee because I feel the need, the need for speed as we head into the Danger Zone care of GABZ and Odd City Entertainment. It's my please to reveal GABZ's Top Gun poster for the defining 80's film starring Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer and many others.

For all of us who grew up in the 80’s, Paramount’s Top Gun is one of the most seminal action films from our formative years. Despite its machismo, male and female viewers alike love this film.

It was the top grossing film of 1986, made household names out of its stars, and inspired multiple parodies that continue to be produced to this day.

The Top Gun print by Gabz features the popular fighter jets from the film, and is designed to be viewed in two directions.

Gabz discusses the movie and poster he designed
“When you’re an 80’s kid like myself you just had to see and fall in love with Top Gun. Sure it has that testosterone/macho vibe that used to be so popular back in those days. Call me nostalgic, but I consider it a classic action flick, with brilliant aerial sequences, cool characters and an awesome soundtrack. When approached by Odd City for this print I knew I wanted something horizontal this time around. I decided a jet fighter battle recollecting the Cold War era should really work well with this title. I also wanted to step back from the complex multi-character based compositions with this one, and to design the print in a way so it could be viewed upside down as well.” - GABZ
The posters measure 36"x24" inches and are 8 color screen prints on Holographic "FOIL" Paper. There will be two colorways Sunset (orange and red) and Magic Hour (blue and red). Each colorway will be an edition of 100. Each one will cost $100. Fully licensed and Numbered edition

For sale Monday December 15th, 2014 around 11am CST at www.oddcitystore.com All prints will begin shipping the following day - Tuesday Dec 16th. Prints are already printed and in hand. Visit Odd City Entertainment and get on that mailing list.

Jeff Soto The Californian Print Release

No comments:

If the rain in California keeps up they really are going to wish this big fella Jeff Soto created was real. For now he is only a print 1xRUN is releasing today titled The Californian Print.

"I have been playing with the ideas of nostalgia and youth, and ultimately growing up and entering into the adult world. This painting focuses on a robot from a TV show we watched. It is rising triumphantly out of the badlands - the hills and mountains and rural areas we grew up in.

This piece was a commission without any art direction, they let me do my thing. I did some drawings like always and found the right imagery. Though the colors are dark, it is a positive piece. It is also aggressive, and strong in a non threatening way I think.

I really like the fact that this print is the actual size of the painting. Most prints are smaller than the originals." - Jeff Soto
