Jay Shaw The Look of Silence Poster Release From Mondo

No comments:

On Tuesday Mondo are releasing a poster for Drafthouse Films' THE LOOK OF SILENCE, an incredible documentary by Joshua Oppenheimer, and companion to the Oscar-nominated THE ACT OF KILLING released in 2012. They're incredibly excited to release Jay Shaw's striking poster for the film, a follow-up to his ACT OF KILLING poster from a couple years back.

From Drafthouse Films:
Through Oppenheimer’s footage of perpetrators of the 1965 Indonesian genocide, a family of survivors discovers how their son was murdered, as well as the identities of the killers. The documentary focuses on the youngest son, an optometrist named Adi, who decides to break the suffocating spell of submission and terror by doing something unimaginable in a society where the murderers remain in power: he confronts the men who killed his brother and, while testing their eyesight, asks them to accept responsibility for their actions. This unprecedented film initiates and bears witness to the collapse of fifty years of silence.

Nathaniel Deas 311 Orlando Poster Exclusive World Premiere

No comments:

Florida gets a second 311 show tonight as they hit the Hard Rock Cafe Live in Orlando. Nathaniel Deas who lives way south in Miami did the poster for the concert.

I talked with Nathaniel about the design of the poster:
From chaos comes clarity. For this poster, I wanted to illustrate the healing power of 311's music. The band has always had a positive influence in my life, and this design was started during a particularly rough patch. I chose to illustrate Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, rising above the chaos to an elevated state of consciousness. There are a lot of little hidden 311 nuggets and patterns of three throughout the design.
The posters are 18x24 on 100lb Cougar Natural paper with fluorescent inks that react to black light. There is also a clear hit of varnish that reveals a hive pattern depending on how the light hits. Show edition of 113 and 25 rainbow foils are numbered.  Nathaniel will have his signed & numbered artist edition of 50 prints and 25 rainbow foils available after the show on Tuesday in his Etsy Store HERE.
