"One night while in the studio with my friend Rime we were talking about ideas how I could let people know that I had made the move cross country from my home city of San Diego to New York. He just blurted out, how about painting on MTA cards?

I've seen the cards sprawled all over the floor of the subway stations. Everyday I ride the train it has become a scavenger hunt to see how many cards I could find. Some days I find 1 or 2. Some days I can find 10. And some days you strike out and don't find any. I even have friends collecting them off the floor of the subways for me. It's just a brilliant idea. It's a sustainable approach to art." - Persue

Persue Catnap Laser Cut Wood Art

Persue is back with cute new release Tuesday from 1xRUN titled Catnap. Each piece is 22 x 11.5 Inches Screen Print and Acrylic on Laser Cut Wood. Some of the editions have hand embellishments as well.

"In 2013 I painted a mural with over 50 "Be the Change" elementary students in Detroit. These kids were so awesome. I wanted to produce a mural that would have a positive message they would see on their way to school. "Inspire and Grow" was the title. The kids used their hands to leave their prints throughout the mural. The idea was that when they would see the mural they would remember that they were apart of making it and remember the message. I pulled the painting of Bunny Kitty waking from a cat nap on a cool sunny day for this latest laser cut release." - Persue

Persue Grey Matter Prints & Original Artwork Release

Persue is releasing 6 new prints and 8 original pieces of art with 1xRUN Thursday.

"These pieces are from “Touchy Subjects” show at the Seventh Letter’s flagship store in Los Angeles. I showed with Dabs, Myla and Rime.
These paintings show a darker side of BunnyKitty’s universe. Spotlighting police brutality, riots, wet dreams and women of pleasure. Subjects that are touchy to some, but presented in a cute aesthetic.

I tend to daydream a lot. These paintings come directly from those daydreams. I start by sketching rough ideas in my journal--not even complete ideas--and use them as a reference, then go straight into painting. No pencil or transfer paper was used in the making of this work." - Persue

Persue Bunny Kitty Laser Cut Out Art Release

Persue brings the Bunny Kitty back in 4 different colors to 1xRUN today with a new release but this time they are laser cut outs on wood plus 8 new original paintings as well.

"Bunny Kitty and her universe were created over 10 years ago. I wanted to create an icon and story that would reach a larger demographic than my graffiti art might. So I invented a world and cast of characters that interact with Bunny Kitty on her adventures in the post apocalypse story. In this series characters that have yet to be introduced are doing so through these one off hand painted paintings. Bunny Kitty’s crush Dee Dee Meow the guitarist for the Slugganauts is being introduced as well as the Siamese twin back up singers Michelle Michelle.

The execution came about after my trip to Pow Wow Hawaii event. I depicted the cast of characters in a floating serine Rainbow Bridge in collaboration with my friend Slick. I wanted to keep that style in these pieces. The characters are depicted in a dream state." - Persue

Persue is back at 1xRUN to celebrate 10 years of Bunny Kitty with this print as one of the Pow Wow Hawaii 2014 Featured Artists

"This piece was draw in celebration of Bunny Kitty’s 10 year anniversary. My first Bunny Kitty drawing was in 2001 but I started the company in 2004. I wanted to create some fun elements to the character without always having to draw the entire body. So a few years ago I started just drawing her head as a throw-up. It was more of a POP art approach to the character. The heads have become more and more distorted through the years. This particular drawing I wanted to depict BK in her natural state. Actually coming out of the tool she was created with through the years, the spraycan." - Persue

Persue Put It In The Ditch, Brah! Print Release

1xRUN welcomes California artist Persue for his first ever print release.

"Before we left California for the East Coast Rime told me to put some ideas together for our stop in Detroit and at the 1xRun headquarters. He wanted to introduce me to the guys and help push getting me to release a print. Because things were hectic before leaving I wasn’t able to get anything together. By the time I got to Chicago I still didn’t have anything. Rime, Mason and I had been through a few cities by then and were pretty tired. The night before our stop in Chicago we were in Nebraska. Nebraska was fucking nasty as all hell. It is where we hit a patch of black ice and did 4 huge 360 spins down the highway with semi trucks barreling down the highway behind us. All I could get out of my mouth was “Put it in the ditch man”! That became the quote for the rest of the trip." - Persue

Persue & Trav Bunny Kitty and Mermaid Mural's in Detroit Michigan

Recently Inner State Gallery had two of the best mural/graffiti/spray paint artists in Detroit to work on some projects and the Inside the Rock Poster Street Team was the there to capture it. Persue and Trav collaborated on a huge wall in Detroit, Michigan with each of them bringing their distinct styles and signature art to life with the rattle can. Persue introduced Detroit to his Bunny Kitty and Trav showed the local writers how it's done. While he was in Detroit Persue also helped some 5th graders paint a mural by their school, you can read about that HERE
