Queens of the Stone Age Antwerp Belgium Poster & She Print by Jermaine Rogers Release Details

No comments:

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (Antwerp, Belgium) -

On Nov. 25, 2013, Queens Of The Stone Age played their largest headline show to date in Antwerp, Belgium. Jermaine Rogers was commissioned by the band to create the limited edition print for this show. Now, we are pleased to offer the regular artist edition of this print, available exclusively from JermaineRogers.com! Measuring approx. 29x21 inches, this piece is printed on gallery white stock. It is from a signed and numbered edition of only 75 pieces. In addition to this regular edition, we are offering the VARIANT 'Stars' edition, which sports a lovely twilight fade in the background, revealing a starry sky. This variant edition is limited to only 50 signed and numbered pieces.

Since the image debuted online last week, several folks have sent emails and messages to Jermaine inquiring about the meaning behind the illustration of the bands frontman, Josh Homme.

Regarding the imagery, Jermaine says:

'Yes, there is some significance intended in the various aspects of the image. The fence, the balloon, and even Josh's skeleton hands, they are all included for a reason. There is no 'filler' here:
visually, I wanted to say what I did in the most straightforward, simplistic way possible. The print felt good. But I'd rather people come up with their own interpretations. Let the thing say what it means to you. What I was thinking is academic, and I'll even admit that it would be instructive to some folks. But what it means to you is what's more important. I will say that the art was inspired by the QOTSA song, 'The Vampyre Of Time & Memory'. That song is simultaneously about helplessness and absolute control...at least to me. Things spiraling away from your grasp...but the firm acceptance of the whole thing. It's a beautiful sadness.' - 50.00 plus shipping

- QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (Antwerp, Belgium) GOLD 'REGULAR' FOIL  This is the REGULAR version of this piece, printed on GOLD MATTE FOIL stock. Approx. 29x21 inches from a signed and numbered edition of only 20 pieces. - 80.00 plus shipping

- QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (Antwerp, Belgium) HOLOGRAPHIC SILVER 'STARS' VARIANT FOIL -

This is the variant 'STARS' version of this piece, printed on Rainbow Holographic Silver FOIL stock. Approx. 29x21 inches from a signed and numbered edition of only 20 pieces. - 80.00 plus shipping

- 'She' Art Print -

This print measures a nice-sized 29x20 inches and sports 6 colors, including a gradient fade, rich and earthy solids, and a soft metallic gold. Printed on warm cream stock, from a very limited edition of only 40 signed and numbered pieces.

About the imagery, Jermaine says:

'I think it's probably one of the biggest swindles ever foisted on society...this default idea of 'male-dominated' gender roles. This supposedly basic understanding that man is wiser, stronger, smarter, better, and 'appointed' by nature to lead the species into the unknown future. As children, the world is designed to pump this idea into our little brains...wet clay, of sorts, that they mold and twist into little machines, ready to (sometimes unknowingly) push the 'status quo' into the next generation. Women who choose to march and fight for 'equal rights' are still perceived in some areas as 'radical'. We used to be a species of 'Goddess' worshipers. Everywhere. Every civilization. We equated some of the most powerful aspects of universal nature with the feminine. And this was balanced by the potent strength and cosmic virility of the masculine. Somewhere along the line, we got sold the current bill of goods. 'Gender roles'. Well, the ladies depicted on this print don't acknowledge those.' - 60.00 plus shipping

Tom Bagshaw Lullaby Print Release

1xRUN has Tom Bagshaw back today with a perfectly creepy print titled Lullaby and I really dig this one.

"After getting the show theme I scribbled down a few notes about the vaguest stuff I could think of and then the general idea popped into my head, it was then just a case of doing some rough thumbnails to establish a proper composition but more importantly, the colour theme - before moving on to paint at higher resolution.

The main thing I wanted to to convey was the motherly aspect but it was the colour that was a little tricky, I ended up going with warmer colours than usual which helped to give a more 'creamy' appearance - almost warming the piece up to give a feeling of being 'off' somehow." - Tom Bagshaw

Kevin Tong Gravity Poster Artist Edition Release Details

Kevin Tong's Gravity poster is a 24 x 36 inch seven color screen print on 100 lb Blu Raspberry French Cover Paper in an edition of 375. He us selling his signed and numbered artists’ copies for $110 each

The GRAVITY Poster will be for sale at a random time on 12/4/13 HERE.

Some words from Kevin on the poster

Getting to do a poster for Gravity shaped up into something I believe will stand as a milestone in my portfolio of poster work. The film is considered by many to be the best film of 2013, which is quite a tall order.

In order to capture the theme of a lack of orientation in the movie, I developed the “no true orientation” concept for this illustration. This poster was intentionally designed to have no true up or down side; it can be taped to your bathroom wall either way. In keeping with the theme, the signature and numbers will randomly alternate between the upper left and lower right corners.
