QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (Antwerp, Belgium) -
On Nov. 25, 2013, Queens Of The Stone Age played their largest headline show to date in Antwerp, Belgium. Jermaine Rogers was commissioned by the band to create the limited edition print for this show. Now, we are pleased to offer the regular artist edition of this print, available exclusively from JermaineRogers.com! Measuring approx. 29x21 inches, this piece is printed on gallery white stock. It is from a signed and numbered edition of only 75 pieces. In addition to this regular edition, we are offering the VARIANT 'Stars' edition, which sports a lovely twilight fade in the background, revealing a starry sky. This variant edition is limited to only 50 signed and numbered pieces.
Since the image debuted online last week, several folks have sent emails and messages to Jermaine inquiring about the meaning behind the illustration of the bands frontman, Josh Homme.
Regarding the imagery, Jermaine says:
'Yes, there is some significance intended in the various aspects of the image. The fence, the balloon, and even Josh's skeleton hands, they are all included for a reason. There is no 'filler' here:
visually, I wanted to say what I did in the most straightforward, simplistic way possible. The print felt good. But I'd rather people come up with their own interpretations. Let the thing say what it means to you. What I was thinking is academic, and I'll even admit that it would be instructive to some folks. But what it means to you is what's more important. I will say that the art was inspired by the QOTSA song, 'The Vampyre Of Time & Memory'. That song is simultaneously about helplessness and absolute control...at least to me. Things spiraling away from your grasp...but the firm acceptance of the whole thing. It's a beautiful sadness.' - 50.00 plus shipping

About the imagery, Jermaine says:
'I think it's probably one of the biggest swindles ever foisted on society...this default idea of 'male-dominated' gender roles. This supposedly basic understanding that man is wiser, stronger, smarter, better, and 'appointed' by nature to lead the species into the unknown future. As children, the world is designed to pump this idea into our little brains...wet clay, of sorts, that they mold and twist into little machines, ready to (sometimes unknowingly) push the 'status quo' into the next generation. Women who choose to march and fight for 'equal rights' are still perceived in some areas as 'radical'. We used to be a species of 'Goddess' worshipers. Everywhere. Every civilization. We equated some of the most powerful aspects of universal nature with the feminine. And this was balanced by the potent strength and cosmic virility of the masculine. Somewhere along the line, we got sold the current bill of goods. 'Gender roles'. Well, the ladies depicted on this print don't acknowledge those.' - 60.00 plus shipping
