Black Dragon Press are delighted to announce the launch of a timed subscription to Nicolas Delort’s Classical Series. Inspired by three quintessential musical pieces from the Baroque, Romantic and Post-Romantic eras, illustrator Nicolas Delort has taken on the challenge of bringing to life J.S. Bach’s “Goldberg Variations”, Franz Schubert’s “Die Winterreise” and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “The Isle of the Dead” in his unmistakable scratchboard style. And if the first installment is anything to go by, you are assured a truly unique and timeless print series - much like the music that inspired it.
Black Dragon Press are offering a timed subscription to the full series at a reduced price per print and a one off shipping cost. A subscription to the standard set costs £135 plus shipping; and the variant set, printed with metallic inks on lush ultra-black paper, will cost £195 plus shipping, and is limited to just 20.
The timed subscriptions are available between NOW and this Thursday June 26 at 2pm UK time (BST) from our shop.
GOLDBERG VARIATIONS by Nicolas Delort - On sale info
The first piece is Delort’s personal interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's “Goldberg Variations”. Story has it that Bach composed the Variations at the behest of one Count Kaiserling, who suffered terrible insomnia. The Count's assistant, Mr. Goldberg, was to play the Variations to help him fall asleep. And so, night after night, the Count would request Goldberg to play the Variations which, over time, came to be known as the Goldberg Variations.

"I'm happy to present the first piece in a series I've long wanted to work on. Music and especially classical music have always been a big part of my life and I've always wanted to incorporate that into my art and I'm very grateful Black Dragon Press has given me the opportunity to do so. I hope you will like these personal interpretations of a few of my favorite musical compositions as much as I enjoyed making them!" - Nicolas Delort
