David Welker Morrie's Wigs & The Horsemen and the Prophet Prints World Premier Exclusive

David Welker has two excellent prints for a couple of outstanding gallery shows coming up this month and it is with great pleasure I give you the exclusive debut of them.

First up is Morrie's Whigs print for the Gallery1988 show opening this week at the new location 7021 Melrose Avenue, and to launch the new gallery space they have “Product Placement” opening on March 9th! The show features screenprint ads for your favorite movie and TV products that you wish existed in real life. 

Morrie was one of those great back ground characters in the movie Good Fellas that kept on trying to be gangster but just never could. 

The print is a 16x24" screen print with an edition of 70 and will only be for sale from Gallery1988

Later this month the Loaded Guns show will open in Chicago at Galerie F Produced by Matt Dye of  Blunt Graffix.

David's print for that show is called The Horsemen & the Prophet it is a 22x17" screen print  with an edition of 40. Only available at the show and online later from Galerie F

I asked David how he created it :

With the Horsemen piece I wanted to set up a hypothetical confrontation between pro gun ideology and a nonviolent ideology. The peacemaker is protecting the innocent and offering a carrot to the mistreated horse which may or may not cause a chain reaction of conscious awareness. 

I used a loose representation of the four horsemen of the apocalypse as a comic foil for the gang. 

I drew inspiration from The Conversion of St. Paul & Guernica.

Godmachine Leon The Professional Movie Poster Release Details

Tommy Good has sent word that Godmachine's stunning Leon The Professional movie poster (that I debuted exclusively HERE) will go on sale Tuesday in the US.

The poster will go on sale at around 9am Wednesday morning Sydney time... And approx 2pm on Tuesday in LA & 5pm on Tuesday in NYC.

The poster is officially licensed and approved by Luc Besson

It will have an edition of 200, screenprinted 3 colors and measuring 14 x 24 inches.

The Walking Dead Paleyfest Poster by DKNG Studios on sale

DKNG Studios have released their bloody good Walking Dead Paleyfest poster. The poster is a two-color screen print on French Speckletone Cream 80 lb. stock with an edition of 150.

PaleyFest is an annual event in Los Angeles that honors some of the top television programs of the year.  A couple years ago DKNG Studios created a poster for the True Blood panel and this year, they had the opportunity to follow it up with another bloody good show.  As huge fans of The Walking Dead, they were excited to create a print paying tribute to the show by including lots of hidden details for other loyal fans to discover.  They decided to make the focus of the design the sheriff’s badge belonging to protagonist Rick Grimes.

Tyler Stout Drive Soundtrack & Movie Poster from Mondo

Correct Version

The first poster for Tyler Stout's first ever gallery show has been released. The much anticipated and often rumored Drive movie poster is now a reality. Mondo also had Tyler do the artwork for a new vinyl reissue of the soundtrack as well

The LP will be available in person at Austin's Mondo Gallery on March 15; it'll be for sale through their website on March 22. It's a 2xLP set with gatefold sleeve on black vinyl-- although random copies will be on hot pink vinyl.

The Drive poster shown above will have on sale at the Gallery opening and hopefully some copies will be sold online later

The soundtrack features a score by Cliff Martinez, plus tracks by Chromatics, College, Kavinsky and Lovefoxxx, and others. (Geoff Barrow's Invada label has also released the soundtrack on vinyl.)

Stout and fellow poster artist Ken Taylor will be will have their show at Mondo Gallery from March 15-April 6.
