Shepard Fairey was asked to do the poster art for Metallica’s Orion Festival again this year. Shepard hinted that there might be a Molotov cocktail of rock iconography… BAM… there is, literally a Molotov cocktail of 200 proof sonic elixir! Obey Giant be releasing a limited edition of 350 signed and numbered prints on Thursday the 6th. There will also be an unsigned litho version on thick paper available at the festival. The festival is June 8th and 9th and I think there are still some tickets available. Pick up a poster on site, or order it online . Keep rockin’ in the semi-free world. The Orion website says the poster is silk screened but Obey Giant say's it is a litho, so not sure what is right either way it's killer poster.
The 2013 edition features a wicked double-headed snake coiled around a freshly uncapped beer bottle and the full lineup at the bottom, all rendered in his signature palette of red, cream and black. For the first time, they're making this available for pre-sale so you can purchase yours ahead of time and have it delivered to your home instead of carrying it around the festival.
Now on Thursday June 6 Obey Giant will be releasing Shepard Fairey's 18 x 24 inch screen print. Signed and numbered edition of 350.
Release Date: 6/6/2013 in the Prints page of the store between 10am and 12 noon PST.
Also there is a $20 difference, the signed version through Obey is $55 and the Orion version is $25 ($30.05 w US shipping)
