Zoltron Zombie Yeti Primus Los Angeles Posters Release

No comments:

Once again, Zoltron and the evocative Mr Zombie Yeti Studios collaborated on a couple of posters for the Primus shows in LA last weekend.

The latest Primus album is called “The Desaturated Seven,” which is based on an amazing 1970s children’s book called “The Rainbow Goblins.” It’s a story about these creepy, groveling, insatiable goblins who will stop at nothing, using their trusty rainbow lassos, to capture and extract all the color from rainbows, rendering all of nature void of color for the rest of time… What assholes.

For their posters, they decided to create some vintage Advertisements, pandering to those devious, conniving goblins. These posters were pages pulled directly from a high profile, internationally published Goblin Magazine, marketing the all new Primus Brand Rainbow Lassos® which, as 6 out of 7 goblins agree, De-saturate Rainbows much faster than the old Rainbow Lassos®.

Posters are 6 color screen prints, measure 18” X 24” and come from an edition of 275 for each night.

They will be releasing artist copies (as well as some rainbowie variants) around 11am PST on Jan 3rd at The Zoltron Store located at http://zzz.zoltron.com/

Faith No More Zombie Yeti Toronto Poster World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

MMMM FOIL

Into the great white north they travel, Faith No More is only playing Canada one time on this east coast tour. But they will be back in August.

For the show tonight in Toronto we get the other part of Zombie Yeti's diptych set of posters that completes the Chicago one. Check out Chicago HERE

Jeremy was at the Chicago show and had so much fun he cracked a tooth. But he got to meet one Aaron Horkey and he was pretty happy after that.

I asked Jeremy about this one:
The story on Toronto's show? Well i was asked to do it after I had almost finished the inks for the Chicago show. I had two possible ideas, one involving a roided up coppertone dog revealing himself out of the boys ass and attacking the pedo-preist, and the one I ended up doing... I played it safe.

It's the happy ending. The boy (band) refuses his(their) perpetual fate(whoring by committee/label) - and he (they)comes out swinging.... I mean - if I was some highbrow arty type with a healthy dose of self-awareness of pretension, that would be the story....

...as is, really, I just wanted to do something to allow people to proudly display the Chicago poster. It's like an evil marketing ploy, right? I mean, unless glorifying sexual predator/pedophilia (that's now a google result for your site, you know. You are welcome!) art is your scene, it's not a light subject and difficult to explain to the inlaws. But with this poster you can have a clear conscious. PURE. EVIL. MARKETING...

...I just wanted to knock out a rad diptych for Faith No More. That is literally a once in a lifetime thing for like 50 people in their lifetime. Damn, I'm going to go buy some lottery tickets...
The regular edition poster is signed & numbered edition of 115, there will be around 100 at the show signed by the band. There is also a foil variant edition of 20, which you can see above.

Both posters will be available via Secret Serpents at 9:00 AM PDT on Sunday May 10th

Zombie Yeti Faith No More Chicago Poster

No comments:

Right now in Chicago, Faith No More are kicking off the second leg of their short US tour. Jeremy Packer aka Zombie Yeti did the poster for the show. He is also a big fan and is at the show tonight as well.

I asked him about how he created the poster:
So first off - I'm a long time Faith No More fan - so I really wanted to knock this out of the park. I initially decided I wouldn't go the 'faith' route and do any religious iconography. Of course I also never listen to myself because it's too limiting...

Obviously their new album is self produced and they've been vocal in the past about their distaste for the label's pressure and influence. So my starting point was thinking of a way to show their independence and rebirth... I had some grand ideas and then I think I had talked to Zoltron and he was pushing me to reduce reduce reduce.

After that conversation I started down a different path and it hit me as I was turning my focus on another project - The iconic Coppertone girl as a young nubile boy and the scruffy cute dog tugging at her bottom (to see her ass or whatever) as a pedo-priest preying on the youthful lad. It just made me laugh and fit the puzzle I had set up.

So then when I was asked to do a diptych I knew I had to have, like a good massage, a happy ending.

Ironically I finished these before they released the album artwork and the single Superhero. All of which makes my comic book approach and young boy seem tied-in and intentional! Sometimes shit just falls in line ;)
The regular edition poster is signed & numbered edition of 115, there will be around 100 at the show signed by the band. There is also a foil variant edition of 20.

Both posters will be available via Secret Serpents at 9:00 AM PDT on May 10th

Zombie Yeti Swans New York Poster

No comments:

Zombie Yeti has released the first part of a Diptych poster for the recent Swans show in New York city. Part 2 will be revealed next month.

I asked Zombie Yeti about the design :
The story behind the design is pretty simple really. I had been looking at old Japanese matchbooks and originally wanted to do a send up to some of the fish-men style illustrations. I hate doing 'my take' on something done before so directly, so I started splintering out from that seed.

I had intended on doing some animalistic crustaceans when I sketched this monkey head next to a skull. It all kind of clicked and I ran with the idea of a monkey crab with a skull shell.

I stepped away and came back to it and my perspective changed a bit. That seemed to make too much sense, so I killed the claw and went for a spider-monkey with a skull shell instead and weird hybrid crustacean arm parts.

Zombie Yeti Les Claypool's Duo De Twang Poster Set Free Friday Giveaway

60 comments:

This October, Les Claypool's Duo de Twang headed out on tour for 9 shows starting off on Oct 10th with three days in Colorado. They then head to the mid-west with stops in Minneapolis and Madison while making their way to Harvest fest in Ozark, AK on Thursday October 17th. The tour then headed to Lawrence, KS and Covington, KY before finishing at Lincoln Hall in Chicago, IL. With each trek out on the open road Les and his trusty pal Bryan Kehoe have been honing their chops. For each of these shows Zombie Yeti did a poster, well for 8 of them.

Inspired by vintage novelty toys, and bizarre Halloween masks - these posters are meant to be viewed as a set. Each poster is signed by Zombie Yeti and was digitally printed on thick stock to replicate a vintage offset look. Only 100 of each were printed and only 50 made available at each show. Fillmore style size 12.5 x 17.5 inches.

Zombie Yeti was kind enough to give one lucky reader a shot at winning the entire set of 8 posters.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about your favorite Les Claypool or Primus song to have a chance at winning the posters. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the random number generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted.
