Mondo will be releasing a new poster for the Ridley Scott movie Prometheus, done by artist Marko Manev. The poster features a great rendering of one of the Engineers/ Space Jockey . The poster will be 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered edition of 310.
On sale Thursday at a random time at Mondotees.com
UPDATE
Someone on EB caught this. Seems Marko is a fan of Tim Bradstreet's Punisher. The original poster by Tim Bradstreet is on the left. I have reached out to Marko and waiting to hear back.
Noon Thursday UPDATE
Statement from Mondo
The PROMETHEUS poster for sale today is canceled. After we revealed the image yesterday, we were made aware that parts of that design resembled those of another image. We did not know that this was the case and now that we do, we’re pulling the poster.
We’re not down with this type of thing and truly apologize to everyone out there and thank you for letting us know that this happened. You guys are awesome and we really appreciate the heads up and support
Hey give photo credit where it's due! The last piece you published (combo picture) is work of Derek Collier don't post art without crediting the artist!! You should learn from Marko.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell are you talking about ? Did you not read the whole story ? Let me quote "Someone on EB caught this." If i knew the name I would have posted it like I ALWAYS do. If you think this is anything like Marko did, you don't know much.
DeleteI think he meant that awful hack of a want to be artist on FB. He made the Punisheus mock up because he's not a real artist and wants to use these little mock ups to sell stickers and shirts to noobs. He wanted you to give him credit for being the hack who did that Punisheus. I believe hes making a sticker of it. Save those $$$
ReplyDeleteReally where did you see that ?
DeleteDon't get caught up in random poster drama, man. Nice coverage of the Marko deal.
DeleteIf Collier deserves "art credits," than Manev deserves to release his Photoshop job as well. Isn't that the whole point of this article and the Mondo recall? Edited work by existing artists isn't art. Now journalistic-ally speaking, Collier might deserve credit for "scooping" the copying job; however it was never published anywhere nor was it posted with his real name on it.
ReplyDeleteCommenter #3. Pull your neck in son. Trolling is so weak
ReplyDeleteThat's not trolling, that is spot on. Sounds more like you trying to protect your "stickers"
DeleteFB. He always prints out this kinda of stuff. just wait a few months for him to show an image "for fun" then print them up because he built a legion of noob fans. Hes the next Tim Pitiddes. A poor mans Pitiddes.
ReplyDeleteYour right rockposters you did mention EB I thought you were part of our group where this came from. As for you anonymous piss off I wasn't insulting Derek. If your a member of our group bow out before we figure out who you are hiding behind the internet anonimity. No one is forcing you to buy stickers?
ReplyDeleteBefore you figure out who he is and do what? Cry to the other poster nerds in your little group?
DeleteDereks image was an amusing bit of quickly knocked up parody. Its well done, must have taken him some time and amused us lots. Its what the internet was made for. He did decide to make a few stickers of the image which he will no doubt give away or cover his costs on. Any stickers he's been doing lately have been sold at cost for our group to enjoy. The comparisons being drawn here are unwarranted.
ReplyDeleteRecently some of us suggested it was time Derek produced a commissioned print for our group and he very humbly said he doesn't feel he's ready for that yet. If and when he decides he is I expect great things.
Tldr - Go project your internet angsty, keyboard warrior hating somewhere else.
