Billy Perkins is having his first solo show in 8 years opens in Houston this Saturday! This one is a really big deal to him also.
I'll let Billy tell you why it's so important:
Why is it such a big deal? First, its going to be HUGE. Spring Street Gallery is an enormous warehouse. It's a retrospective show, and therefore features MANY prints that I pulled from the personal vaults - lots of rarities and popular prints that have been sold out for years, and EVERYTHING is for sale. Some of these are literally my last copies that I have to sell.Limited edition prints of this show poster will also be available. It's 20x30, and screen printed by hand at Black Swan Screen Printing.
The size of the space allows us to showcase 10' tall reproductions of some of my Perkins '77 images (NFS). These require a large space to be displayed, and haven't been seen since they graced the store windows of John Varvatos stores. It's unlikely they'll be seen again anytime soon.
It's also only my second-ever solo show - the last one was in 2008, so lots of new work has been done since then. After this show, many prints will no longer be available. If there's something specific you're interested in, contact Ann Brooks at Black Swan Screen Printing - (713) 863-0200.
Artist Reception: Saturday, May 7 at 6 PM – 9 PM
