OPENINGS The Superior Bugout present an evening of visual art landscapes by Detroit's well established Graffiti Artists GASM and ELMER

Last weekend Fourteen-Eighty Gallery in downtown Detroit's Eastern Market hosted their first show featuring best friends, GASM and ELMER. They are two of Detroit's most prolific graffiti artists. "Warriors" reshaping the visual landscape of the city, painting their names on abandoned facades all over Wayne county. The hardworking duo calls Detroit "The Graffiti Discovery Zone" and rides around on a tandem bicycle leaving their recognizable stamps for the public to take in. "We can do what we want, paint what we want, whenever we want to. We make this city ours, because everyone else left it. This is what we make of it."

The Inside the Rock Poster Frame Street Team was there to capture it for your viewing enjoyment.  Through the creation of a new venue for alternative and underground expression Fourteen-Eighty Gallery is a vision recently renewed by gun enthusiast and local Detroiter Miles Michaels and will continue to be able to be part of the growing arts community in downtown Detroit.

The work was amazing, using items found around the city the pair incorporated their signature styles into the items perfectly. All of the art looked at home on the walls just as it would in an urban landscape. By looking at the pieces you could imagine yourself being instantly taken to a building or street.

The Superior Bugout seeks to bring a synergy of sight and sound, combining elements of the streets with contemporary sound visionaries. The party aesthetic comes from Brooklyn based multimedia artist Andrew H. Shirley, who's film / sculpture work appeared in Detroit's Rapture party of 2011, and most recently in the Museum of Sex in NYC as well in the Fountain exhibition at the 2012 Armory show.

The show will be on display for a few weeks if you want to check it out in person at 1480 Gratiot Ave. Detroit MI with parking in back. Questions ? Shoot them an email
