Here is some release info for some prints that will drop from POP!NK Editions this Friday.
Friday, August 22nd at noon (CST), POP!NK Editions will be releasing three new editions on their website, www.popinked.com.
Dead Abe and Dead Ben are 20x16" two-color, hand-pulled screen prints each in an edition of 50 by artist Curtis Readel and will cost $40 plus shipping. Each print is signed and numbered and printed on French's 80lb cover Old Green paper. These first two prints in a series titled Non sum qualis eram (I am not what I once was), feature altered portraits from the US $5 and $100 bills. Still to come are $2, $10, $20 and $50 bill portraits. Stay tuned for the ability to purchase all of the portraits as a set.
"Utilizing the classical portraiture and ornate framing from our currency, they have been altered, exposing the likeness of their skulls. With their features now stylized in similar hatched marks true to the originals, their expressions are still apparent through their lack of skin and muscle. These haunting visages appear as decayed symbols of our nation that allude to issues of corruption and decline."
Also set to drop is Good vs Evil. This is a 24x18" seven-color, hand-pulled screen print in an edition of 20 by artist Zach Schrey and will cost $100 plus shipping. Each print is signed and numbered and printed on French's 80lb cover White paper. In the coming months POP!NK artists BORT, Curtis Readel and Steve Seeley will each be releasing a Superhero themed print edition as well.
"Drawn to cartoons and comics from my childhood, Good vs Evil is a composite of a few iconic Marvel superheroes and one supervillian. The interplay between the various characters and their features create a visual balance that between good and evil.
