Helio Bray Muso Inko Print Release Details

No comments:

1xRUN welcome back Portuguese artist Helio Bray Monday with his new print Muso Inko.

"I started the piece in the beginning of May 2012 for an exhibition in Lisbon, named ‘Shapes for All’. The Stroke Art Fair was a great experience. I made some other pieces for the same exhibition, all a bit different but very similar. The materials are my usual materials: acrylics and spray cans.

I used to like to mixed some colors in particular with some specifics forms and that’s what I have made here. I have created an environment for the Mickey Mouse, where we can find some abstract layers. On this piece there is a bit of extra appreciation for the clean line. The grey paint that I used was one of the most spectacular greys that I have ever worked with." - Helio Bray

Also Monday 1xRUN will have 8 original paintings for sale by Helio as well

On sale Monday at NOON EST at 1xRUN.com

Malleus Blow Up Movie Poster The Latest Edition to The British Cinema Series

No comments:

Dark City Gallery were lucky enough to team up with their Italian friends (the fabulous art trio) Malleus for the 9th print in their British Cinema Series. Malleus have undoubtedly created something very beautiful for the 1966, Michelangelo Antonioni classic 'Blow-Up'.

About 'Blow-Up': A successful mod photographer in London whose world is bounded by fashion, pop music, marijuana and easy sex, feels his life is boring and despairing. Then he meets a mysterious beauty and also notices something frightfully suspicious on one of his photographs of her taken in a park. The fact that he may have photographed a murder does not occur to him until he studies and then blows up his negatives, uncovering details, blowing up smaller and smaller elements and finally putting the puzzle together.

Take your pick from two cracking editions of this limited edition poster. Malleus’ design perfectly captures the beauty and elegance of model Veruschka von Lehndorff and highlights the style and energy of the swinging 60’s.

The standard edition is a 6-color silkscreen print with a limited edition of 100, hand signed & numbered by Malleus. The variant has an edition of only 35 and both measure 19.5 X 27.5 inches

Jay Ryan It's a Jolly Holiday With Sauropods Print Release

No comments:

Details from Jay Ryan on the latest release from The Bird Machine:

YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE! I'll make the story as brief as possible: A few months back, I was invited to be involved in a show of 30 postermakers celebrating the films of a large entertainment company. I selected one of their films to interpret as a print. I drew chimney sweeps and nannies and kites. Due to some internal bureaucracy at the large entertainment company, six of the last submissions were rejected, including mine. I was out of this show. I decided to remove the film's titular text from the middle of the composition, and to fill the space with... Brachiosaurs... of course. Floral Sauropods. This is the print. It has chimney sweeps, nannies, kites, and dinosaurs. 18 by 24 inches, ten screens. We made a signed and numbered edition of 260. Available at noon Chicago time today, Friday, March 28. "Eats Leaves - All Types." Jay

I am more than happy to add what Jay left out, most of you know this was for the Mondo disney Show. The poster was for the movie Mary Poppins. Fuck disney and buy this print from Jay and show them what a mistake they made by not including his work.

Kenji Nakayama Etudes Print Release Details

No comments:

Japanese Artist Kenji Nakayama returns to 1xRUN today with a new print titled Etudes.

"This body of work is called “Etudes” because it was a new challenging exercise for me—not unlike what musicians and composers do with etude works. I had a specific set of rules to work within, but I never knew how the series would develop. It organically evolved over time.

This original piece and many others will be for sale at my upcoming exhibition opening April 18th at the Fourth Wall Project in Boston, Massachusetts. It is one of the forty-nine experimental paintings that I created over the past several months. The series began with several rosettes created in summer and fall of 2013, which might remind viewers of stained glass, mandalas, and hubcaps. The series transitions organically from circular-based works to more calligraphic compositions that meander from central points. The later works in the series takes inspiration from Edo-era signage, which is defined by thick and heavy brushstrokes with round edges.

The number of works created in this series -- forty-nine -- refers to the period of mourning that is observed within Zen Buddhist traditions. Within this ritual, it is believed that the spirit of the deceased will transition into the next realm after a forty-nine day period. The forty-ninth day is celebrated by family and friends with a ceremony." - Kenji Nakayama

"Once again, the fine folks at PangeaSeed have asked me to participate in their print suite! I was really excited to tackle CORAL REEFS, as there was a lot of opportunity for interesting shapes and crazy colors. Any opportunity to draw sharks and girls, AND help protect the ocean is a no-brainer for me!" The print is big, bright and beautiful in person!

Joseph Crone Room With a View Print Release

No comments:

1xRUN have a new artist releasing some work on Thursday by the name of Joseph Crone.

""I completed Room with a View this past December to have on hand while the other three in the series made their way out to the LA Art Show with the heavy hitters in Arcadia Contemporary. Having been able to show in the same booth alongside the artists I view as inspirations was definitely a mind blowing experience.

The photos I take for reference typically have a small amount of tweaking through Photoshop, but this piece contains the most to date. The photo shoot took place during a cold, rainy night which made the original shots difficult to work and since I’m a nice guy, I didn’t want to torture the model by having her half naked on the fire escape. So I stacked tables and studio easels to replicate the perspective of the original scene in a warm, cozy studio for the model to pose. The angles matched up perfectly." - Joseph Crone
