This Spring, Handiedan would like to announce her first art print releases of the year. It’s been quite a while since her last release, so she is very excited to tell you that this release will be a very special one. A double art print edition of both the digital collage design and the reproduction of the hand cut collage artwork of 'Vesica Piscis'.
Both images radiates their own strength. The digital design 'Vesica Piscis No.1’, with her clear and strong graphic lines, and the reproduction of the original collage artwork 'Vesica Piscis No.2' with her oval shaped, multi-layered hand cut collage feel that stands out in relief.

Vesica Piscis'
Vesica Piscis takes us to creation and sacred geometry. The circles represent the female (ovum) and the oval the male, shape of the eye ... of creation, god, etc..
The Vesica Piscis is a symbol made from two circles of the same radius, intersecting in such a way that the center of each circle lies on the circumference of the other. The name literally means the bladder of the fish in Latin, like the figure looks like a stylized fish, or in the extended version like a flattened Greek letter alpha.
(Wikipedia)
The art of Dutch artist Handiedan involves a complex cut and paste mixture of digital montage and highly detailed sculptural scissor hand cut collages, complimented by conscientiously collected antique ornamental frames.
Build out of multiple classic pin-up body parts, the female form stands out over a backdrop of baroque and Victorian Neo-Classicism designs. All culled from international currencies and stamps, antique sheet music ornaments, playing cards, cigar bands, Asian papers with personal items and drawings. Intricate and meticulously crafted, the collages represent the gradual accumulation of both the layers in her work and her work process self.
The first phase of Handiedan’s mixed media art is the digital process. She builds up her image digitally, out of the gathered and scanned collage material and drawings: 'Vesica Piscis No.1'
In the second phase, she rebuilds the digital design into a meticulously crafted multi layered hand cut collage with precisely added items. A complex visual puzzle and labyrinth of collage and paper layers, interchangeably intermixed, that stands out in relief: 'Vesica Piscis No.2’
Collage art enables Handiedan to combine all her visual fascinations on a single backdrop, where she can portray and explore her personal interest in the era's of life and time. Past, present and future elements and cultural facets can be found woven in her work. Her personal journey's of that what is, what was and that which can't yet be explained are found within her meticulously portrayed artworks.
Some visible, some more enchantingly hidden in plain sight. More and more Handiedan tries to capture these complexities of life and interests in her work. An artistic journey of scientific philosophical themes, with an almost kaleidoscopical exploration through her collage.
