Jeral Tidwell Rabbit Print on sale NOW.

No comments:

The details from Mr Jeral Tidwell:

Howdy Folks, I promised that 2011 was gonna be different and I hope this shows that I am serious... especially after the dragon / wu-tang from 2 weeks ago.
Anyway, I thought you all would appreciate this as a nice step in my printing evolution.

This is my most unique print so far... I wanted to create the illusion of embossed paper to add another level of visual and physical beauty.
I accomplished this by screen printing 2 layers of clear varnish over the image and the result is more than I could have dreamed.
Once you have this in hand you will not want to stop touching it...it is truly the most unique poster you will have in your collection.
18X24 inches, screen printed, 3 colors plus 2 layers of clear to create the beautiful embossed effect. Signed and numbered edition of only 100 pcs.
The Japanese characters in the corner are simply my name... TIDWELL.
For sale in the art prints section of my web site... humantree.com

Jon Smith Store open at Nakatomi! Built to Spill Poster on sale

No comments:

Details on the move by Jon Smith to Nakatomi:

Jon Smith is moving to Nakatomi! Well, his store at least…we don’t want him actually sleeping here.

Jon’s one of the most unique gig poster artists working today, designing prints for bands like Spoon, Built To Spill, Black Keys…the list goes on and on. His prints have a crazy otherworldly and distinct look to them- if you ever get a look at his Ghostland Observatory prints, they really twist the expectations of what you’d normally see in the screen printing medium. It’s great stuff, and we’re proud to have his prints up on Nakatomi. (And, I get to see them all in person as they come into the studio!)

We’re in the process of moving his back inventory over here, bit by bit and we couldn’t be happier.

And to kick it off, we’ve got a brand new release by Jon, his Built To Spill print from back in November-

This 12×24 print is signed and numbered by Jon in an edition of 100. We also have a few of the Variants available as well!

When Jon was packing up prints to ship to us, he also came across a small stash of his sold-out Black Keys Columbus prints- these are the very last five copies available-

For one day only 20% off all Jon Smith prints- for just today, Thursday, use the code SMITH (all caps) at checkout and you'll get 20% off all Jon Smith prints. Don't waste it!

We’ve got quite a few more, and Jon will be sending us prints until we have his whole back catalog available, as well as all his new stuff! Check back often!

Find them all in the JON SMITH section of the Nakatomi store!

25% off Shirts Sale at Nakatomi !!!

No comments:

Nakatomi totally forgot they had these! They’re getting ready to get some BRAND NEW t-shirts in store next month, and they were going through their storage space making room for the incoming inventory, and found all of these old Invitational shirts in a box! Whenever they do printing, they always print a few extras of each size in case something gets lost or damaged in the mail. And so for these limited edition tees, they ended up with an extra one or two of some sizes, and they’re putting them back up in the store while supplies last!

A lot of these sizes we only have ONE of, so this is truly the LAST chance on some of these great tees!

And, to make it even sweeter, they’re putting all their tees on sale for 25% off until the end of the month!

Use the code- SHIRTS in the coupon code box at checkout.

Head on over to the Nakatomi T-SHIRT section to see what they’ve got, while they still got it!

Emek Michael Franti Poster on sale details

No comments:

EMEK has been a fan of Michael Franti for over 20 years, since his days in The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. The effortless way he combines groovy beats with positive socially conscious messages. So, an idea came to me in a dream, it was a little different...the setting of a faceless lonely old man sitting on a park bench feeding the pigeons as a discarded newspaper blows by across a desolate landscape.....closer inspection reveals the pigeon is actually a peace dove, and in the man's hand is the earth (... a metaphor for a Higher Power).

The poster was done in Scratchboard, starting with an all black board, then using an exacto blade to scratch away the black to reveal white underneath.

The poster is 18 x 24 and printed on a heavy cream colored paper.
Price is $60 plus shipping.

100 were sold at the show, and a signed and numbered and embossed and doodled edition of 200 was split between the band and EMEK.
EMEK's copies go on sale this Thursday at noon Pacific Time EMEK.net

Banksy Nominated for an Oscar for Exit Through the Gift Shop

No comments:

The outsider status of graffiti artist Banksy took a further blow today with the announcement that he has been longlisted for an Oscar for his documentary film, Exit Through the Gift Shop.

The anonymous spray can provocateur may have begun his career tagging around his native Bristol, but he is now in danger of being embraced as firmly by the movie mainstream as he has been by the art world. Earlier this month the film, which received enthusiastic critical reviews on both sides of the Atlantic, was awarded a prestigious Grierson documentary award.

The film, which premiered at the Sundance film festival last year, was described by the artist as "the story of how one man set out to film the unfilmable – and failed". It tells the story of a Los Angeles T-shirt printer called Thierry Guetta who becomes obsessed with street art and attempts to make a film about it, only to have Banksy, on seeing the catastrophic results, turn the camera on Guetta.

The Lost Angeles Times described it as "subversive, provocative and unexpected … a hall of mirrors as unsettling as anything Lewis Carroll's Alice ever experienced".

The documentary longlist of 15 includes films by a number of other Britons, including Enemies of the People, a personal film about the killing fields of Cambodia directed by Rob Lemkin and Thet Sambath, and Lucy Walker's Waste Land, about an artist who works with Brazilian slum-dwellers to create works of art made from rubbish.

"Diamondism is the term I coined when referring to my recent stream of work. It was an offshoot of the 'Netch' pieces painted together with Berst. Initially Diamondism came from my observations of crystal formations photographed with a macro lens. In nature colours and form are arranged in ways that defy human logic. All the rules are broken - yet everything is defined perfectly. "

Two-sheet Silkscreen Poster
20 x 58 inches
Edition of 125
Each part is 3 colors on archival cream paper
Signed and Numbered (matched numbers top and bottom)

Chuck will be making a very limited release of this poster on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 12 noon PST. at ChuckSperry.net

Chuck's custom designed Edwardian wallpaper used in this poster has some hidden secrets. Check out the detail pic above.

THE EDWARDIAN BALL is an elegant and whimsical celebration of art, music, theatre, fashion, technology, circus, and the beloved creations of the late, great author Edward Gorey. Set in “Edwardian” times, this multi-media festival has grown over the past decade from a small underground club night into an internationally recognized event, even earning the blessing of The Edward Gorey Charitable Trust.

Costumed and enthusiastic attendees, traveling from as far as Australia, Japan, and the UK, flock to this San Francisco tradition for a delightful blend of ballroom dancing, live music, riveting stage shows, DJs, fine art galleries, a vending marketplace, absinthe cocktails, steam machinery, parlour games, sideshows, and more. All ages are welcome and appropriate in this darkly humorous and elegant setting, where literary aficionados rub elbows with insect-like creatures parading on stilts… where historically-accurate Edwardian recreationists waltz by a steam-powered tea garden… where the only guiding rule is that you join in on the fun!

The Edwardian Ball has been called “the quintessential must-not-miss event of the year,” “a defining annual San Francisco tradition,” and “a literary circus of the highest caliber” for good reason… come see for yourself!
