I am particularly fond of two ship captain's - The first is Captain William Bligh who sailed the South Pacific and is famous for "Mutiny on the Bounty" - He is a distant relative and my mother is actually named Bligh :)
ReplyDeleteThe second is Admiral Raphael Semmes - He was a commander in the US Navy, a general and an admiral in the Confederate States Army and Navy respectively - He captained the CSS Alabama on 65 successful raids during the civil war - There is a statue of him here in my hometown of Mobile, Alabama that I have admired since childhood - He is perhaps the greatest American 'pirate' :)
